Thought Balloons Popped (or Deflated?)

When Alex invited me to join TGC, I did it thinking if I could ever be as good at blogging as Kevin Melrose (the genius behind the always entertaining Thought Balloons) , I'd feel good. So imagine my dismay (and the dismay of many of his finest fellow bloggers) when Melrose announced this morning that he was taking the air out of his balloons and moving on to hopefully even greater (and more engaging for himself) things.

Melrose often voiced exactly what I was thinking. So, given that I myself recently quit buying comics for the first time since 1977 (shh! don't tell my fellow bloggers...it was more of a fiscal choice...I promise...it had nothing to do with Jason Todd...), I should not be surprised to find myself sympathetic with Melrose's admission that the "interest just isn't there" for him to continue with the blog.

Thought Balloons will be missed, Mr. Melrose, but I look forward to frequenting the next Melrose (Reading) Place (heh): Dark, But Shining (a group blog effort that has Melrose teaming with Rick Geerling and Sam Costello).
