Toronto Comicon wrap-up: "My way"

The Metro in Toronto reports on the Shuster Awards, which were given out this weekend at the Toronto Comicon. Attendees at the awards presentation not only saw some of their favorite Canadian creators, but also were treated to a song by Cerebus creator Dave Sim:

The 2006 Joe Shuster Canadian Comic Book Creator Awards were handed out at a ceremony on Saturday night in Toronto and while honourees represented the country from coast to coast, it was the induction of the first living hall of famer that provided an unforgettable moment.

Just three weeks shy of his 50th birthday, longtime Kitchener resident Dave Sim — known for his pioneering self-published 300-issue comic-book series Cerebus — belted out the song My Way in front of a crowd of about 75 guests, fans and fellow creators and received a standing ovation for both his singing prowess and his lifetime of work. “It was my only chance to ever do that,” Sim laughed after the ceremony.

The Beat has a brief video catching the end of Sim's number, as well as a list of winners and daily reports from the con.
