TGC Wants Your Vote!
Just a reminder -- there's still time to vote in The Great Curve's 50 Best DC Characters survey. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at 11:00 p.m. EDT (GMT -05:00).
Complete rules are here (be sure to check the comments). Here are some tips and clarifications based on the lists we've received so far:
1. Just about any mainstream DC character, including characters that migrated to Vertigo, is eligible. This includes heroes, villains, and supporting characters. Unfortunately, it does not include Grant Morrison or Julie Schwartz.
2. Please rank your entries from 1 up to 50. The #1 spot gets 50 points, the #2 gets 49, and so on.
3. Please identify characters by code name and real name (i.e., "Blue Beetle (Ted Kord)"). Votes will be tallied according to real names, so a vote for Dick Grayson counts the same whether you identify him as Robin or Nightwing.
4. Please put the codename first, however, because that will help with the final tabulations.
5. As much as I love both books, characters from Watchmen and 'Mazing Man are ineliglble. This may mean a "Best Non-Mainstream DC Characters" survey in the future, just to see Rorschach take on Maze.
FYI, putting together these entries is pretty fun. The best chuckle I've gotten so far was seeing "Danny The Street" next to "Darkseid."
Again, send your entries to brainallgone at prodigy dot net, and please put "50 DC Characters" in the subject line.
Thanks to all who have voted so far, and hope to see more of your entries before the polls close!

First of all, great choice using the cover for Showcase #100; that was one of the first comics I ever read, courtesy of my older cousin's collection, and it was my introduction to some of my favorite characters (Hawk and Dove, Spectre, Dolphin, etc.)
Second of all, it's really sad just how much of my time and effort has gone into compiling this list, trying to decide on my own personal criteria for inclusion; it's times like this that my comic geekiness is undeniable. On the other hand, once I get it finalized, it will make for a nice couple of blog posts.
Looking forward to seeing how many of my offbeat choices make it into the final list; go Ambush Bug!
Dammit I forgot Ambush Bug on my list. I'm a giant DC fan and my list was at 89 before I started to cut. I tried to put my forgotten favorites on the list (Creeper, Atom (Ray Palmer), Bat Lash, Eclipso, Metamorpho, Nemesis)
I left some good stuff off my list (Time Trapper, Mano, Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Aquaman)
I dying to see which characters apperead on the fewest amount of lists.
Go Quislet and Gates.
Don't worry about Ambush Bug. I wrote him first!
