Brian Michael Bendis: Radical writer?

Nerve.com has named Brian Michael Bendis to its slowly unfurling list of new radicals -- "the 50 artists, actors, authors, activists and icons who are making the world a more stimulating place."

It today's installment, spots 11-20, Bendis is tagged as "Radical Writer" for his work at Marvel, and for Jinx:

Marvel scribe Brian Michael Bendis is often recognized for his prolific (he writes several comics a month) and smart, Mamet-ish dialogue. We'd like to recognize him for taking characters best known for their skimpy costumes (Elektra in Daredevil) or girlfriend status (Mary Jane in Ultimate Spider-man) and letting them be complicated, strong-willed women. He's also created a few from scratch: his independent comic Jinx, about a tough female bounty-hunter who does not wear vinyl or stilettos, is currently in production with Charlize Theron.
Other "radicals" of note, so far: Achewood ("Radical Web Comic"), Cillian Murphy ("Radical Actor"), Naveen Andrews ("Radical Castaway") and, um, Kelly Ripa ("Radical TV Hottie").
