Marvel's next big signing: Klaus Janson?!

In a press release sent late in the afternoon yesterday, Marvel announced that they'd signed artist Klaus Janson to an exclusive deal.

Janson, best known for his work with writer/artist Frank Miller on the seminal Dark Knight Returns for DC and Daredevil for Marvel, brings decades of experience to the House of Ideas. But while DC is announcing exclusive signings like Mark Waid, one has to wonder if the well might be dry when it comes to the comic book free agent market.

In recent years, Janson has dipped his toe in the writing side of the comic biz. According to the Marvel release, writing will be part of the artist's duties in addition to inking and penciling. His most notable writing endeavor was a short story in DC's Batman: Black and White anthology series.
