Inconsistency Is Fun
Interviewer: Let's move to The Avengers. So how dead is Hawkeye, really?
Brian Michael Bendis: Dead is dead.
Interviewer: Dead is dead?
Bendis: Yes.

Bendis - I know no one believed me at the time but, as I said when we first started on Avengers, Hawkeye is one of my all-time favorite characters. As soon as he died (emphasis mine), we started cooking a way to bring him back and I could not wait for this day. He's back, he's got a fist full of arrows and he is not happy. Why bother giving interviews?

Brian, you got links to the interviews? Just curious is all.
It'd be funnier if I just made them up.

"If I was Clint, I would have hopped out of Cloak (I've not read the durn thing, this is mere fifth hand) taken a look around, said: "My chances are better in there." and hopped back in the friggin Cloak."
With Bendis writing, you're probably right, Tim.
And fix that avatar, man. Fix it!!
