The Week at the Curve
Week of June 19, 2005
Comicdom and Curvedom kicked last week off in full splendor as the catalogued and refurbished work of The Comic Book Galaxy team hit the Web. Chris nearly immediately followed that up with a promo for their Ait-Planet Lar promotion in whose hat your name most definitely belongs. I mean, come on; the winner gets the AiT-Planet Lar library.
Wednesday only proceeded to staple a climax on the week with the release of Batman Begins, which rest assured succeeded where Tom Bondurant speculated that it should by making Bruce Wayne a relevant character. Crack open the champagne, because it's the Batman film that needed to be made long ago.
In other highlights you should be abreast of, our very own Lea Hernandez's work is on board for 2005 24 Hour Comics Highlights. Also, Michael May threw up some great notes on the place of some old (and busty?) comics icons of the 90s and the Comix Ex-Machina exhibit in New York.
The week unfortunately subsided on a sad note, as Sam Loeb lost his 3-year battle with cancer. And as Alex said, I know all of our thoughts and prayers here are with his family. I saw Sam with his dad at Wizard World Chicago last year. He was a really bright guy.
