Are you going to San Francisco?

For those unable to travel to the Bay Area this winter, Northbay.com has a great review up of the Cartoon Art Museum of San Franciso's current exhibition titled "Contemporary Literary Comics: Selections from McSweeney's #13". McSweeney's, if you're unaware, is a quarterly publication of writing and usually healthy amounts of comic art that is edited by Pulitzer Prize winner Dave Eggers, as well as Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth author Chris Ware. The Museum's display, based on McSweeney's comic tribute issue that collected a well researched historical representation of sequential art, includes original work by creators ranging from Adrian Tomine to Charles Schulz.

"Contemporary Literary Comics" features more than 100 works by 25 of the nation's most unconventional cartoon artists.

"Ten years ago, it seemed there wasn't any new ground to explore in the comics industry, but these guys have been out there blazing new trails and finding new ways to express themselves," said exhibit curator Andrew Farago.

The show will be up until May 22. Anyone interested in a Spring Break road trip out to Frisco should definitely contact me, because the roll call alone in this article is enough to halfway make me want to RSVP my regrets in to my family for the Christmas weekend and head on out.
