When Fourteen Discs And Two Special Editions Aren't Enough

With the Christopher Reeve movies getting a 14-disc boxed set in November, which will include a "director's edition" of Superman II along with the special edition of the first movie, The Digital Bits wants to know your pie-in-the-sky, shoot-the-moon, wildest-dreams-fulfilled thoughts on what more would make up the definitive Superman movie DVD set.

I can think of a couple of things right offhand. First, since composers Ken Thorne and Alexander Courage pretty much remixed Williams' score from the first movie to create music for the sequels, have John Williams write new scores for II, III, and IV. Second, redo Superman IV's special effects. Anything would be better than what's there now. Third -- and I'd be surprised if this weren't in the works -- trace the influence of the first Reeve movie back into the comics, "Smallville," "Lois & Clark," and the various animated series. It may be the most powerful influence on the public's image of Superman in the last thirty years.

E-mail the Bits editors here, and put "Superman Wish List" in the subject line.
