The interrogation of Warren Ellis
In what has become a regular tradition of sorts, Warren Ellis has opened himself up for questions from any and all comers over on The Engine.
Let's talk about the state of the world, the state of comics, the state of the future, anything. I'll try and answer whatever you throw at me, and we'll see how long it runs for (probably a week).
A couple of Great Curve contributors have asked questions:
Chris Arrant: What do you think it's going to take for the internet to be seen as a viable alternate distribution channel for comics, in terms of "webcomics" but also ordering?
Warren: One reasonable success will usually do it. God knows e-commerce is mature enough now. I think it's going to take two or three Big Figures in the artform taking a project to the web and not losing their shirts.
Alex Segura, Jr.: Is there a company-owned character you would flat-out refuse to write, no matter what the offer? Who is it?
Warren: Hm. Probably Judge Dredd. The proposition is just too scary. John Wagner is just such a giant, and that comic is such a tightrope-walk, and so many other people have fucked it up so badly over the years...
In addition, Michael Oeming interviewed (and drew) Warren Ellis over at Buzzscope.
