Can't Wait for Wednesday

Looking at this week's Diamond shipping list, we have several books that I'm pretty excited about. For the last couple of weeks, I've highlighted first issues; this time, I'm highlighting last issues (or next to last issues, as the case may be). From Dark Horse, we have the grand finale of Revelations, which has been a fun surprise so far; I didn't expect to like it as much as I have. Marvel offers up two long-awaited finales, with Defenders #5 and the final issue of the Kevin Smith-penned Spider-Man/Black Cat mini-series. And from DC, you have the penultimate issue of Wonder Woman, before she heads off into the Infinite Crisis sunset until her title is eventually relaunched.

Then there are trades, and lots of them. The three that jump out at me are the first Godland collection from Image, the next color Bone collection from Scholastic and Sexy Chix from Dark Horse.

And on the first issue front, Marvel offers a new edition of their Official Handbook; I think an update has been long overdue. We also have the debut of two Warren Ellis titles -- Black Gas from Avatar and the comic I'm choosing as my pick of the week, Nextwave #1. This comic has it all ... giant monster lizards, B-grade characters you never thought you'd care about, a catchy theme song ... did I mention a giant lizard? His name’s Fin Fang Foom and he wears purple underpants. Seriously, does it get any better than that?
