Week at the Curve

Week of May 1, 2005

The event of the week was obviously Free Comic Book Day; and for folks like me who were bogged down in their last college semester of finals which thusly rendered them unable to make it out, TGC was the place to visit and live vicariously. If you want to know what you missed out on check out Alan David Doane's complete annoted rundown and top pick. We've also got accounts from across the nation, so in a way, TGC is sort of more interesting than your local shop anyhow. Chiming in with madcap accounts, weather reports, and wholesome family fun, were on-the-spot bloggers Hisham Zubi from Portland, Marc Sobel from Manhattan, and Tom Bondurant from Lexington.

As for more of our free reading offerings in honor of the grand event, we threw up a couple of interviews with not one, but two Steves (Englehart and Niles). It was like Mother's Day, and I'm not even a mom! And to frost the cake up, Jonathan Lethem is coming over to comics. Alex an an image link in Saturday.

If free comics and free news weren't enough for you, scope out the topics of the week, such as why we can all agree that Sleeper is amazing, why Infinite Crisis will either make my head spin finally pull me over to DC forever (EVERYONE, pick up Day of Vengeance!), and another reviewer questioning why we all just can't get along (or at least just stick to publishing reviews that help the medium).

Happy Mom's Day, and a belated Happy Free Comic Day, cadets. See you around next week when I'm all good and graduated.
