Manga mania

Franklin Harris, online editor for The Decatur Daily gives us an interesting piece on the rise of manga in bookstores.

Walk into any chain bookstore, and you'll find that a revolution is under way. Spider-Man and Superman may be squeezed into a ghetto beside the "Dungeons & Dragons" manuals, but other comics fill long aisles of shelves and occupy display stands in high traffic areas.

Japanese comic books, or manga, have come to America, and they're impossible to miss.
Is this news? Not really. But as manga continues to grow and connect with the younger audience that mainstream comics crave yet continually lose sight of, we'll be seeing more and more stories about the "manga explosion." An explosion, mind you, that's been going on for quite some time.
